Small Projects

Now that I'm home I have a list of small projects I'm working on around the house. Just little things to make it nicer and keep me busy while the baby sleeps.

The plan is to hopefully move soon, so I always try to be as fiscally responsible as possible when it comes to working on the house. My goal is always to make it more sellable. Plus, I don't want to spend a lot of money and time making a room I love, only to leave it. For example, I've used neutral paint in most rooms even though I'm dying to change it up and add some stripes. I LOVE STRIPES!

source unknown

OKAY - stripes out of the system... for now.  Back to my house. The first change I made this week - the rug in front of the sink in the kitchen. Here is the before:

And here is the after:

I'd been eyeing this rug at T.J. Maxx for months. Last week it got marked down so I grabbed it. I think it fits the space better, I like the design, and it's so much more comfy on my feet than the old rug. Also - (and this is key in my household) - the old rug was pretty lightweight and when the dog felt mischievous.....

...the rug was his victim. (I've found it chewed up and left for dead many times in many rooms.) The new one is heavier, so I'm hoping he can't pick it up as easily and drag it around the house. OR maybe he thinks it looks really good where it is, so he'll just leave it alone.....
maybe..
I hope...
we'll see...
I doubt it.
