Happy Halloween!

I hit the streets tonight with Elmo for a little trick or treating.

Boy, was it cold here! Our little pumpkin stayed home to help hand out candy.

Leg Warmers Baby!

Eat your heart out Jane Fonda... this babe's rocking some serious leg warmers!

These baby leg warmers arrived today and I couldn't resist redressing Ev so she could show them off. (Honestly, I wish I had known about these with Ana. I hardly ever left her in her onsies for fear she would get too cold.)
Happy Friday!

Halloween Around Our House

We've officially gotten our Halloween on around here.
While Ana went at it with the paint colors, I attempted to get creative on my own:
I took the hole puncher and glitter paper I used for "Hello Beautiful" to one and gold spray paint to the other. The 'P' is just written on there with sharpie marker. (Hello easy.)

We have one untouched pumpkin left. We picked it up yesterday at a local pumpkin patch.

(It's impossible to get this girl to pose for the camera now. She seriously runs when I point it at her!)

I think we'll carve the pumpkin this weekend. We really don't have too many other decorations up around the house. Ana doesn't like anything remotely scary. She did, however, have a blast sticking these pumpkins to all our windows.
But, seriously, now when I walk by a window at night I think someone is standing outside.. every. single. time. It scares the bejesus out of me!!

Free Printables

What I've learned being a parent - decorating a child's room can be crazy expensive. (Has anyone checked out the latest Restoration Hardware catalogue for kids?!) But really, you don't need to spend that kind of money to make your child's room nice. (Maybe it takes baby #2 to learn that one.)

Last night I googled "free printables for kids" and found some really cute prints.
I printed this alphabet poster from Mr. Printables.com. They also have some nursery rhymes and flash cards that are equally as cute.

Every time the topic of bedrooms comes up, Ana reminds me she wants a blue room. "Bleeeeeue Mama" is what she says. (In case you don't know - her room is a sea of pink)

I hope this satisfies her:
I printed it off of On To Baby. You can chose from a number of different colors and even use more than one color on your print.

And I found this one for Evelyn's room:
It's from For Chic Sake. They also have other prints and some really cute diy ideas.

I still need to get out and find some simple white frames for these prints, but what do you think? Have you found any great free prints online?

Perfect Girl Bedroom

I saw this on pinterest the other day and absolutely fell in love. I think this is the perfect girl's bedroom.
The bold color of those lampshades really pop against the soft pink of the room. That's what I need to work on most when I decorate.... those little touches that don't necessarily match with the rest of the room but rather add to the room.

By the way, have you noticed all of the friends and family sales going on right now? I was just looking on Serena & Lily. Let's just say, if I didn't have any self control.... we'd be in big trouble!

Chalkboard Art

I have another chalkboard paint project to share. (I told you I went crazy with the chalkboard paint!!)
This is really simple. I painted a small canvas with chalkboard paint and then used chalk to draw a heart.

I thought it looked a little plain with just the heart, so I added an "E" for Evelyn.
I think I'll be able to erase this and draw whatever I want when the mood strikes.... but I'm not sure how the canvas will look after I erase. So, for right now, we're keeping it like this and Evelyn has two original pieces of art waiting to go in her room.

Chalkboard Door Done

I have to say, I'm really glad I did it.
I painted the inside of the closet door in our kitchen. Ana gets the bottom half to be creative and the top half is for me and my obsessive habit of making lists. (grocery lists, to-do lists, etc.)
I've always liked the idea of chalkboard paint but definitely not the messy look chalk leaves behind after it's erased. Then I saw this:
It was my inspiration. (If only my stuff was as organized! wow.) Anyway, outside - just like always; inside - surprise! chalkboard.)

So far, so good. We'll see how it wears.

Pumpkin Picks

There's a can of gold spray paint in my garage that I hope isn't too old. I think this year we are going to paint our pumpkins. Here are some pics I'll be using as inspiration:
I have to show you the "pumpkin" my daughter found the other day. We went to the most adorable fall festival near my mom's house. After carefully weighing all her options.....

This is what she found:
She cracks me up.

Ooh, I just had a thought.... chalkboard paint on pumpkin?? Do you think it would work??

A Couple Things...

Boy am I glad this day is o.v.e.r. The girls and I drove to my mom's house, and it was one of those 4 hour trips that took 6 hours. (An hour into the drive, my little one decided she did not want to be in the car.... and she never changed her mind.)

We have a fun-filled couple of days planned and, in the meantime, I leave you with a few notes:

Have you tried chalkboard paint? It's dangerous.
I bought this on Thursday and have been painting EVERYTHING! I don't know what's come over me but I can't stop. Darn you pinterest! It's all "drying" while we're gone and hopefully when I return home I'll have returned to my senses.... or just maybe it'll all look fabulous. Let's be optimistic.

I'm loving apple season right now:
Aren't those pretty?
I've also been adding fresh spinach to my dinners. I usually use the frozen stuff and then one night this week - on a whim - I decided instead to use fresh spinach. (I added EVOO, salt and garlic) It tastes so much better than frozen spinach! Why didn't anyone tell me this?! I've been throwing it in all my meals. Here it is in chicken pasta:
Last but not least, I leave you with this quote to think about:

Have a great weekend!
