Friday Fashion File

I can't get over these new shoes I bought babes for fall:

(Gone are the days of her stopping and posing for my pics!)

They're Minnetonka Fringe Booties.

I ordered these adorable shoes after spotting them on The Little Style File.

And guess what - they came the same day as my new J.Crew catalog. Why does that matter?... well look at what just happened to be on the back cover of that catalog...

Yes - Minnetonka moccasins!

AND in my InStyle magazine in the "Shop Like a Fashion Editor" section:

My brother thinks they're weird - my mother totally gets it. My hubby is head over heals for anything on his little princess.
I think one stylish baby: check.

P.S. She's now in cahoots with the stray cat outside:
If that cat ends up inside the house - we know who did it!

Lend a Helping Hand

A couple of my friends on Facebook posted this picture today. It's horrific that so many children are starving to death. (It's horrific that even one child is starving to death for that matter.)

Believe me, I know how easy it is to not think about those children and, instead, focus on the little complaints of life.

I hope this picture inspires you to be thankful for what you have and also inspires you to help those who have not.

I've always been a fan of Unicef. It's a small way to help.

Perfect Fall Look

I saw this on Pinterest tonight....

If you know me, you know fall means skinny jeans and my brown boots. I would love to add this sweater to the mix... so soft and comfy and......$1,995!?!? Yikes. I'm now on the lookout for a less expensive version!! If you see one - let me know!!

Sick Days

A little behind on my posts. I haven't been feeling well - baby and I spent a very unfashionable friday in our pajamas. Will get back on this soon!!

Shadow Boxes

Picked up these shadow boxes at T.J. Maxx over the weekend:

Not quite sure what I'm going to do with them - but for $12.99 I couldn't pass them up. I do like the idea of hanging one on top of the other - kind of how I have them laid out on the table.

Here are some ideas I found online:

Martha Stewart via Pinterest

I think this first idea would be great in my closet - especially considering my necklaces are currently hanging from my husband's tie rack...with his ties.

This one below would be cute in a nursery:

Or art:

(kind of made me think of the map art i blogged about here.)

A Cozy Nook

When I was a little girl, my mom had a space finished under the stairs in the basement. I filled it with dolls and Barbie dream houses, and it was ALL mine. (no little brothers allowed) I loved that space.

So how about a grown-up nook to call your own....

Some of these are great ideas for kids too! Who wouldn't want their own little space.... or even a place to cuddle with someone you love... like this sweet pea:

Baby Bracelet

My little one loves bracelets, so I had been looking for something fun and safe for her. (Safe being the key word here because I'm one paranoid mama. Beads scare me!)

Here are some cute ideas I found online:

I'm dying over this last one. How adorable!!! I would love to make this at some point, but I ended up going with the easiest one - the second one. (It didn't require a trip to the store.)

I used one of baby's old hats...

(I think she wore it once because I hated the fit!!) I also may have cut a few strips out of one of my husband's t-shirts....

Anyway, I cut strips, braided them, sewed the ends together, and then covered that section with another piece of fabric. um, can you say 5 minutes?!

It may not be the neatest thing on earth - but SHE like them!!

She likes to put them on her wrists...sometimes her feet. They're stretchy so I can put them on too when we're playing.

Super easy and cost nothing - so it's all right if we lose one or if the dog gets one.... which will probably happen before this week day post is done.

Friday Fashion File

I'm always inspired by the Serena & Lily catalogs. I LOVE the designs and colors they use in home decor. How exciting to see the team now partnering with Hanna Andersson on these organic cotton sleepers.

These sleepers are $36 each.

Randomness

Did you hear about the craziness that is was the Missoni line at Target? I say "was" because most things are sold out. In fact, I heard Target's website actually crashed several times because of it!

I just saw on CNBC that more than 30,000 items from the line are now being sold on Ebay for way more than they were at Target... like hundreds of dollars more!!

I don't get it.

BUT I did get these:
...from Zara. I had been obsessing over them (here), but couldn't get baby's size. Well, after checking Zara's website everyday, today they had one pair in a size I think will work!!! The good news is Zara has free shipping on standard delivery. (Love that!) It makes me feel better if the size doesn't work out and I have to return them.

Now I'll have to celebrate.... with one of these:

Just kidding, but I do love this cake. Courtney at A Thoughtful Place made this to celebrate the first day of school. What a great idea!! I might have to start something like this when my little one heads off on her first day. (gotta keep busy to stop my crying :)

Speaking of making things yourself - Would you believe the chevron design on these curtains was painted on using regular latex paint?!

It's true! Olivia at Owen's Olivia made them herself here. AMAZING!

And one last (random) note... I think this room is pretty AMAZING:
I can't remember where I found this picture - it's been sitting in my inspiration folder for quite some time now. I must say, when I think of my dream house - this is the living room.

someday...
