I painted the trim white and the door black. I also covered the top of the step in front of the door. It was a quick and simple task, but I think it makes a big difference. The black will cover all the dirt that gathers on the door and on the step coming into the house. Plus, our front door is black so now this matches.
Speaking of the front door - I tackled that area too.
Ugh, so plain!
Every time I'm at Target or Lowes or T.J. Maxx I find myself thinking about buying a new chair to sit out here. I've never pulled the trigger and now I'm glad I waited.
It dawned on me today that I had two extra chairs (from our table set in the backyard) just sitting in our garage. I had the pillow stuffed in the back of one of our closets.
As for the tree in the pot?...
Yes, that's a Christmas decoration. Yes, it does light-up. But hey it works until I can get a flowering plant in there. (And don't forget - I'm trying to be fiscally responsible here!)
Total cost for both projects = $0
Me = happy
By the way, it's absolutely beautiful here. The heat took a hike, and we can't get enough of being outside!!
