Friday Fashion File

Dressing the bump has put me in a fashion slump. For some reason I just have no desire to shop maternity. The result: leggings and cardigans every. single. day.

I think my daughter may be in a fashion slump too..... only she's over clothes all together. That's right - I put the shirt on, she takes it off.... I put the shirt on, she takes it off.... I put the shirt on...you get the picture.

She thinks it's hilarious.

Yes, the shirt is off... again. (and one of the socks)

See mom, it's so much easier to look at my belly....

 ...and to tickle myself!!

Don't even think about putting that shirt back on me!

Starting this week - all shirts that zipper, button or snap in the front are done.

Inspiring Mom

On Motherhood Inspired I try to show those things that have inspired me since becoming a mom. This is why I wanted to share Heather Von St. James' story with you.
Heather reached out to me through an email. Her story is one of courage and survival and it started when her baby was just 3 1/2 months old. That's when Heather was diagnosed with Mesothelioma - a type of cancer that kills 90-95% of those who have it.

One of Heather's first thoughts upon being diagnosed - that she wouldn't be able to watch her baby grow up. What a terrifying thought for any mother!

But Heather fought, and six years later she's here and cancer free! Heather said it best in her email: "I'd like to turn my pain into purpose and become someone that other parents can look to for guidance, inspiration, and hope in situations like my own."

I hope you check out more about this truly inspiring mom at her blog.

Thank you Heather for turning your pain into a positive influence for other moms!

Gender Reveal Desserts

We had our ultrasound today, and I'm happy to report everything looked great. I was hoping to find out if we are having a baby boy or girl - but the nurse couldn't tell! Our little one was not very cooperative! The nurse thought girl but then said she just doesn't know at this point.

I had been hoping to do something fun like a gender reveal dessert with our family.

Have you heard of this? You have a bakery fill the inside of a cake or cupcake with blue or pink to reveal what you're having.

Then it's one big surprise and everyone finds out together whether it's a boy or girl. I think it sounds like a lot of fun!

Babble
Our doctor said she'll take a peak at our next appointment to see whether this little babe is a boy or girl. I feel like it's a girl - does that count?

A Christmas Display... Missed!

All ready and so excited to head to downtown Indianapolis to see the Circle of Lights Christmas display:

We would have gotten out of the car to enjoy the decorations....

BUT, here's the reason we went in the first place:

Yep - sound asleep! She missed the whole thing. I swear, she was excited just 5 minutes before this was taken.

Maybe next year!

Displaying Kid Art

My daughter is pretty serious when it comes to her art:

I already see a lot of "masterpieces" in our future that will need to be hung up in the house!

Here are some creative and oh so stylish ways to display child artwork:

I think it's key to make sure it's easy to change out the artwork. I really like the second one. (from the blog "I Heart Organizing") If you click on the link, it will connect you to the site where you'll find step by step directions on how to make those adorable display frames.
