Silhouette Art

Here's a stylish DIY art project for you. It's silhouette art. 

I got the idea for this project from the blog Simply Seleta. I used the below deer pattern she found here.

This project took about 10 minutes tops. I traced the above image onto a piece of white paper to use as my pattern. I then cut out the image on black paper, taped it to a piece of scrapbook paper and put it in a frame. 

So easy!!

Once I was does with this, I got a little silhouette happy.

Then I made one of Ana:

I simply used this photograph I had of her for the pattern!!

Mini Vacation

We had a great weekend. Last minute, we decided to board the dog, book a hotel, and get ourselves to Indianapolis!!

 Ana LOVED looking at herself in this mirror (and occasionally kissing herself). I'm now on a mission to find a big mirror like this to hang in our house!

It was fun to keep calling the weekend "our vacation" - usually we do Indi in one day. (It's only about an hour and a half from our house.) To tell you the truth, we didn't even do anything that special.... just a lot of cuddling, relaxing, and some playing and shopping. It was perfect!!

Oh, and I did make two great buys of things I really needed. I found a new make-up bag at T.J. Maxx and an iPad case at Nordstrom:

I must be on a pink kick!

Friday Fashion File

I couldn't wait to share with you my deal of the century for mamas-to-be: I just picked up this basic long sleeve maternity top at Old Navy for $4! Yes, I said $4!

I grabbed it in black too. Talk about a maternity staple: It's just a scoopneck but so stretchy and slimming! It's an easy shirt to dress up with a scarf (like I did here) or a necklace.

While we're on the topic of maternity wear, have you heard of Mine for Nine? I came across it on Babble. It's a site where you can buy new maternity wear or rent it.

I think this site would come in handy if you have a special event to attend. (Like when I was pregnant with Ana and had three weddings in the last 2 months of my pregnancy!)

Wow West Elm!

I'm really liking some of the new items at West Elm. During Ana's nap today I took time to browse their site. First and foremost, I LOVE these poufs! They by far are my faves!

Oh how I wish I had the right kind of space for them!!! What a great way to add color and style to a room. (and I think some of my rooms are in desperate need of both color AND style!!)

I also like these colorful bowls:

I have some cute striped bowls, but somehow my collection has gone from four bowls to two.... I blame the husband. These would make a good replacement.

And, last but not least, did you see this basket?:

Of course I would like this for storage... I've been obsessed with these similar baskets at Serena and Lily for a long time.

I just can't bring myself to spend $290 on the set!! 

Pinning Away!!

It's no secret how much I like Pinterest, but would you believe that I only officially joined the site last night!? You can now follow my pins here. My two big topics are home decor and style... here's a preview:

I really like that pinterest keeps track of your sources for you. It makes it so much easier to go back and follow up on your pics of inspiration!! I can't tell you how many times I've seen something I liked or saved a photo of something I liked and later thought - now where did I find that?!

My main goal right now is to be very selective about what I pin so that my boards don't get out of control. (which could so easily happen!!)

Other than that, I'm still trying to figure out the easiest way to post from my boards and how to get you a link button.
